Skincare after microblading

After microblading, taking care of your eyebrows is the same as caring for a tattoo. Talk to your technician about skin care after microblading. They will usually have specific instructions on healing.

Microblading is a procedure that leaves your eyebrows with scabs. These scabs are formed by the blade cutting through the skin and drawing blood. These scabs can cause pigment loss and should not be picked off, no matter how tempting. The scabs can make your eyebrows appear darker than you intended. This is normal and will disappear once the scabs are gone. Your body’s response to the treatment will determine the severity of the scabs.

It takes 7 to 14 days for your skin to heal. Your appearance will improve. It takes approximately a month for the desired colour to set in. This is when you will usually book your follow up appointment if needed.

It is important that the healing area be kept clean and that creams and makeup are not applied to the scabs. Glycolic acids, which can cause pigment to fade, should be avoided. The technician might recommend that you avoid wetting the area for 72hrs following the procedure. Also, refrain from excessive sweating and showering for approximately a week. The technician will generally ask that you keep the area dry for at least ten days following microblading.

A technician might give you a special ointment that you can use on your eyebrows for the first week.

After your skin has healed completely, you need to maintain the semi-permanent pigment you applied to your skin. To prevent sunburn, it is recommended that you apply sunscreen to your eyebrows when outside.
